7 oclock, alarm didnt work, but we are awake anyway. a very beautiful sunny morning, crispy cold -26 degrees, coldest morning yet but it doesnt feel that way. morning routine takes some 2 hours, and around 9 we are off. the start is always unconfortable for me. i am a diesel, i need 1 or 2 hours to come into my rythm, but luckily ski conditions are very good, first 2 hours we ski to the end of the big valley, and then we start climbing a glacier. a good 500 vertical metres, pulling a pulk that is heavier then myself. sun, fog, snow… the light changes all the time, and the glacier brings us ever closer to the mountains. when after 4 hours of skiing we reach the col the view opens up into a vast flat field of snow. another hour of easy going, and we make camp. putting up the tent takes 5 minutes, and than i change into coock. while ilkka finishes the tent, i start the fires and begin melting snow. dinner will be camembert with wodka, mushroom soup with salami, spicey mexican chicken with apple, choco mousse with honey waffles, and wodka. and tomorrow, we get to do it all again. life is good!
